Information legibility

For a clock, legibility is essential and depends on various factors: the technology used, the components adopted and materials. These elements, along with the experience applied during the designing phase, all determine the maximum light intensity, the color of that light, the color and finish of the background for optimal contrast, the minimum light intensity based on ambient light, the height, the shape and spacing of the characters.

 

Legibility also depends on a combination of different environmental factors and on the manner in which the clock is used, such as the incidence and intensity of the ambient light, the desired reading distance and angle, the height of installation, the color and shape of the architectural elements of the surrounding environment.

 

To optimize legibility of information in the various environments in which it is displayed, various methods are adopted. The automatic regulation of brightness based on ambient light conditions optimizes readability and guarantees an efficient use of energy. The frontal protection with an antiglare finish has been designed to increase visibility from most angles of observation, even in the presence of direct light.
